The Dreaded Burnt Taste: Explain that this is usually due to gunk buildup (carbon) or a dry wick.
-

-
Basic Clean: Rinsing disassembled parts with warm water.
-
Deep Clean: Using high-proof alcohol (like vodka or isopropyl) to remove stubborn residue.
-
-
When to Change Your Coil: General rule of thumb (1-3 weeks), influenced by how sweet your e-liquid is (sweeteners kill coils faster).

2026 Update: Care for E-Rigs, Wax Pens and Dry-Herb Devices
The cleaning method must match the device category. An e-rig may separate into glass, seals, a chamber and a powered base. A wax pen has a tighter chamber and short air path. A dry-herb device can collect fine particles around a screen and mouthpiece. Never soak a battery section or assume a cleaning liquid is compatible with every chamber.
E-rig care
Power down, cool completely and separate washable glass from electronics. Dry-swab the chamber first. Clean glass only with the method in the manual, inspect seals and allow every pathway to dry before reassembly. Our full electric dab rig cleaning guide covers the chamber, glass and drying sequence.
Wax-pen care
Use small loads, keep air holes clear and wipe the cooled chamber before residue hardens. Do not press a metal tool against ceramic or quartz surfaces. Cap the pen for storage and keep it away from loose metal objects while traveling.
Dry-herb care
Empty the cooled chamber, brush loose particles away from the screen and clean the mouthpiece according to the manual. Never rinse an integrated electronic oven. If airflow remains restricted after approved cleaning, inspect or replace the screen instead of increasing heat.
A burnt taste is not always a signal to raise power. Stop, cool the device, inspect the load, airflow, wick or chamber, and clean the correct parts. Replace cracked glass, chipped coatings, damaged seals or swollen battery housings rather than continuing to use them.
